Liza grew up playing in the gardens of her parents and grandparents in Eastern Pennsylvania. She has fond memories of harvesting (and eating) strawberries, “Pappy’s Peas”, corn, potatoes, zucchini, green beans, and other crops every year with her grandparents. She helped them can tomatoes, make jams, store potatoes and onions in the root cellar, make zucchini bread and more. They were totally self sufficient and ate what they grew from their garden year round. As a result of her experiences, Liza has had an interest in gardening ever since she can remember and wants to share that knowledge with the community. She loves growing vegetables as well as ornamental plants and flowers. She has been living in Half Moon Bay for the past 10 years with her husband and two kids. She is interested in educating the kids in the community on gardening and sustainable living through the community gardens.
